Atlas Mountains Community Project – Morocco

We supported the remote village of Ait Ali Itto in the Atlas Mountains by improving the facilities of its only school. The small village is located in the Tadla-Azilal region, about 200 km from Marrakech. The 300 inhabitants of the village mostly work in agriculture and plant corn, wheat, potatoes and apples.

Our team partnered with the MJID Foundation that supports youth across Morocco. Our group of Canadian students along with members of the MJID Foundation renovated the classrooms of the schools and built toilets and a septic tank. These upgrades were long-overdue and considerably improved the learning experience of the schoolchildren.

Our travelers also had the chance to hike in the breath-taking Atlas Mountains, to participate in several cultural activities including cooking and bread-making workshops, to play football/soccer games with the local kids, and to explore the city of Marrakech.
