Ecotourism and Community Development – Costa Rica
Our expeditions to Costa Rica combined ecotourism activities, across the country’s beautiful nature reserves and national parks, with impact projects through partnerships with NGOs and local schools.
We recently supported two local schools close to La Tirimbina Wildlife Refuge, in Northern Costa Rica. The project lasted about a week and two student groups helped with school renovations as well as tree planting and landscaping. The students painted several walls of the schools and provided the necessary supplies, constructed a sidewalk using recycled ceramics, and built a butterfly garden with the help of the local families. The group slept in a beautiful lodge inside the wildlife reserve.
During our stay in Costa Rica, we also explored the fauna and flora of the Tirimbina Wildlife Refuge, we observed the turtles at the Tortuguero National Park, and hiked in the scenic Poás Volcano National Park.
