This article presents a strategy framework that was developed to balance economic development along the Red Sea coast with nature conservation. The framework covers seven key dimensions to protect the unique marine biodiversity of the Red Sea:
1) health and value of biodiversity and ecosystem services,
2) marine spatial planning and protected areas,
3) enabling infrastructure,
4) sustainable financing schemes and mechanisms,
5) wareness and education programs,
6) national, regional, and global cooperation, and finally
7) monitoring and enforcement.
